St Michael’s pupils come running into school in the morning and don’t want to go home at the end of the day. St Michael’s is a place where people love being and this is guided by our ethos of perseverance, wisdom and gratitude which encapsulates our wholehearted approach to life.

One of the things we value at St Michael’s is the Joy and Wonder of Learning. Every lesson we teach and opportunity we offer, aims to inspire our pupils and enrich them with knowledge and skills that will equip them for life beyond St Michael’s.

Our 90-acre site of countryside and woodlands is as much a part of the children’s learning and growth as the traditional classroom. From our outdoor library and Forest School to our Astro Turf pitch where techniques and sportsmanship are honed, our site offers the perfect landscape for lessons in topography, bug hunts and creative writing.

We are innovative and always looking for ways to improve our curriculum to make it more vibrant and inspiring for our pupils. For example, the Years 7 and 8 St Michael’s Diploma offers a highly commended, skills-based alternative to the Common Entrance curriculum by combining scholarship preparation with elements of GCSE syllabuses to ensure our pupils are fully prepared for Year 9.
Life and social skills are also a key part of the St Michael’s education which supports our children when they apply for senior school. Our growth mindset approach ensures that every child understands the important of learning from their mistakes in their path to success. We teach them resilience and strength when tackling something new, challenge them and help them grow into independent learners.

Pupil voice is extremely important to us at St Michael’s and our School Council is an important avenue for igniting change. From fun runs, to wildlife awareness days, our pupils are always coming up with fantastic ideas for helping our local community and we celebrate this by bringing their visions to life.
We are so proud of what our pupils achieve during their time with us and feel confident that they will use the wisdom, skills and values that we teach them to change the world.
