We so want it to be spring, but there’s still an undeniable chill in the air. Let’s celebrate this with some utterly delicious comfort food, courtesy of Gemma at Mother Cooking Food.
Gemma serves this with mustard mash but it would go just as well with the green veg ❤
Serves 4
You will need:
- 12 pork sausages
- 2 apples
- 1 onion
- 1 leek
- 500ml cider
- 300ml water
- 1 tablespoon wholegrain mustard
- 1 tablespoon of gravy granules
- Vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper
- 2 garlic cloves
Let’s Cook it!
- Turn the oven to 180 degrees
- in a pan that can go on the hob in the oven, fry the sausages in some oil until they have a nice colour all over (for about 6 minutes). Put to one side
- In the same pan add some more oil, chop and fry the onion, leek and garlic until soft
- Add the cider, water and mustard, bring to the boil and then simmer for 10 minutes
- Add the gravy granules and stir
- Chop the apple into wedges (no need to peel) and add these to the sauce.
- The sauce should be starting to thicken now – add more water if you need to. Season with the salt and the pepper
- Add the sausages to the sauce, making sure that they are all coated in the sauce.
- Put pan into the oven for 35/40 minutes.
