Our chat with Kate & Merrick from The Happy Grazing Company

We met up with the lovely ladies from the award-winning Happy Grazing Company to talk all things entrepreneurial!

Best friends Kate & Merrick set up The Happy Grazing Company almost 2 years ago, prompted after a passionate chat about cheese! They create bespoke, luxury grazing boards and beautiful platters…

Hello ladies…. Congratulations on the success of Happy Grazing so far! As two women in business ourselves, we’d love to have a chat with you about your journey so far…

What’s the best piece of advice to someone starting out on their own?

Kate: The best thing we ever did was employ an accountant! We meet twice a year, they’re really supportive and have guided us through the process. We were advised on what Bank to setup with, the most user-friendly accounting tools etc. It’s been invaluable.

Merrick: Be honest with each other and spend money where it matters; don’t scrimp on the important things!

What did you wish you knew before you started?

Kate: It took us a long time to get to this point. It would have been great to have had a better idea of infrastructure perhaps a small business mentor to guide us along the way.

Merrick: Don’t be nervous, people are kind, go for it!

Kate: To have known how much friends and family will support you. It’s been fantastic!

What are you most proud of ladies?

Merrick: Moving into our new premises at Turvins Farm a year ago; it’s something tangible – we exist in this world with our name on it!

Kate: Winning awards and accolades for our work. We were featured in Vogue – how cool is that?!

Kate: Doing something with your best friend that brings joy to others!
