Kitchen Inspiration from Rencraft
Beautiful Blue
This busy, young family from Sevenoaks were extending their family home and wanted a kitchen with plenty of storage and a large island where all four children could sit, eat and chat.
Sarah Cooper, designer at Rencraft, was happy to help. Creating a beautiful, blue design that forms a calm oasis in the heart of their bustling family home.
Sarah says “What makes this room so special is the fact that it is such a beautiful, light-filled extension. The client and I agreed that we wanted the kitchen to reinforce this bright and airy feel. This is where the delicate 30mm white quartz worktops and the pastel blue colour scheme come in. Together they help to provide a sense of calm and tranquillity.”
“Another key factor for this design was storage. With a large family to consider it was important to make the most of the space. Working closely with the client we included a dedicated breakfast cabinet, so the children could help themselves to cereals, while elsewhere in the design there’s a bespoke, hexagonal corner cupboard and a double door larder with marble cold shelf.”
“Lastly, we wanted the design to have plenty of character, to create a smooth transition between the new and existing parts of the property. Traditional features such as a chimney breast with over mantel and a tiled splashback have been used to achieve this. While finishing touches include living brass handles and brass hinges to complement the pendant lighting over the island.”
