“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Nelson Mandela
As pupils join Year 7, we emphasise the fact that they are our future and we want them to make a positive impact on the world. We pride ourselves on offering a unique experience in Years 7 & 8 at St Michael’s. We combine the strong community feel of the School with many opportunities to increase the pupils‘ confidence and self-awareness. Pupils have the opportunity to take on leadership roles, which helps them to prepare for senior school life. They enjoy several residential trips, which build teamwork skills and friendship bonds that will last a lifetime.
The opportunity for pupils to flourish academically is naturally a priority, but we adapt our curriculum to suit the needs of pupils of all abilities, including preparations for scholarships and participation in a variety of areas including sport, music, art and drama. Our Year 7 and 8 curriculum prepares children better for life and encourages creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, excellence, perseverance and commitment.
We celebrate with them their many talents and successes. We offer advice and guidance to parents and pupils about the senior schools which would best suit all their needs.
We have been highlighted by ISI for providing strong pastoral care to all our pupils and have been awarded the Wellbeing Award for Schools; staff who teach in the senior years recognise the specific needs of those approaching their teenage years.
We believe that by instilling in our pupils the importance of moral values, we are providing them with the skills that can have the power to change all our futures for the better.
