If you get a real Christmas Tree you should take note of our top tips to help keep it fresh!
After carefully choosing your Christmas tree from one of our many, local Christmas Tree farms or shops in Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas, here’s how to get the best from it…
- Prepare you tree
Saw half an inch of the bottom of the trunk before you bring it inside. Then put the tree in a stand that can hold water making sure it’s secure so it doesn’t topple over! Making sure the tree is straight before you start to decorate it, let it stand and settle into its true shape before you start.
2. Find the perfect place
With all the time and effort that goes into decorating your tree, you’ll want to make sure everyone can see it. So choose a room that your family, friends and guests will spend plenty of time in. Corners are good places for trees because it protects it from knocks and bumps. Try to keep it away from radiators and heat sources. Cover the floor where the tree sits with a piece of fabric as this will protect the floor from any water splashes.
3. Maintain your tree
Your average healthy Christmas tree will drink a lot of water, so it’s important to water it often. Topping it up daily means less needle loss – just make sure you turn off any nearby plugs while you’re doing it! Keep the tree stand filled with water; make sure you never let the water level go below the base of the tree. A seal of dried sap will form over the cut stump in 4-6 hours if the water level drops. A well-watered tree will lose fewer needles but all fresh trees will lose some.
