Review: Natures Elements Bootcamp

As someone keen to get back into my fitness after baby number 3, I was intrigued to try out Carin Soderberg’s Natures Elements Bootcamp at Reuthe’s.  I’ve been doing some personal training and have realised that I benefit most from outdoor exercise – I think this is because I get soooo hot but also the grunts and squeals of effort aren’t quite so loud outside it seems!

I went to the Sunday morning bootcamp (10.30-11.30am) and after meeting at the Base Camp café where I waved a sad goodbye to the coffee and cake, we trekked up ‘Hikers Hill’ giving me a great warm up before reaching a clearing in the woods.   Laid out with logs, ropes and medicine balls, I may have found this a little intimidating were it not for Carin’s enthusiasm and the rest of the bootcampers made up of varying age groups and fitness levels.  Mostly women.

Pairing up, we did a circuit of different exercises flinging around logs and running up and down to a viewing point, chucking medicine balls up a tree (you get the gist).  One thing that really resonated was Carin’s repeated, look up to the trees, take in the smell of the earth, breathe in that fresh air.  This helped me with being in the moment, my positioning (looking out) and enjoying the clarity of being out in nature (things that were stressing me out felt smaller).

I loved it.  Outdoors is definitely my thing.  No mirrors to see how red I’ve gone and a huge sense of achievement at the end of the session.

Highly recommend for anyone into fitness, nature, fresh air and doesn’t mind a bit of mud!  Gloves recommended! £10 PAYG or £50 for 6 session
