Summer holiday hacks

We’re half way through the summer holidays and you *may* be feeling a little jaded so we thought we’d highlight some of the well known ways in which to turn down that dial, take a moment and reset.  We all know if can be full on entertaining the children over the long summer holidays but if you get a moment when the kids are happily playing by themselves, on a playdate or maybe with a relative, don’t do the ironing! Treat yourself to something like this:

Read a book – we’ve recently enjoyed Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng and have Eleanor Oliphant Is Absolutely Fine by Gail Honeyman lined up next.

Make yourself a fancy cocktail /mocktail/ smoothie/ tea – go on add a paper umbrella/ slice of cucumber/ a twirl of orange peel.  You can even get edible flowers in Sainsburys, sooo pretty!

Stretch – there are some great 15 minute YouTube vids on yoga/pilates/stretches which don’t require a change of clothes.

Smell the roses – head outside, even if it’s just into the garden and take a moment to breathe.

Call someone you haven’t spoken to for a while.

Paint your nails or do a face mask. Or book into a local salon.

Enjoy and remember time for yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential.
