Time for a personal challenge?

Me and 3 friends decided it was time for a personal challenge this year and we came up with a marathon hike. Initially we wanted to do the 3 peaks challenge but logistics didn’t quite work out. It was a struggle to come up with a date we could all let alone match it up with an organised event… so we designed our own route and picked a charity of our choice! Parkinson’s UK is a charity close to my heart and my friends were happy to support it.

Our first meet-up decided the date, our second decided the route. We chose to walk from Brighton to Eastbourne along the stunning South Downs. It’s been hard dedicating the time to extra long training walks but we’ve done 2 half marathon distances to scope out the route and get a feel for the terrain.

We’ll end our route after a gruelling undulating walk up and down the Seven Sisters. Parkinson’s UK have been fab and provided us with medals so that our children can award them to us at the finish line, we also have banners and balloons so they can cheer us on. So far we’ve raised just over £1000 which I’m seriously chuffed about! Our marathon walk will be held this Sunday 23 June which coincides beautifully with summer solstice (we’ll need the light on our side after all!).

There’s still time to sponsor us if you’d like to. Wish us luck!
